Reading in the Brain

Didn’t I say that when I’m lost I always end up in a library [or a bookstore]? Wandering by the Woodlands, Texas, I walked into the bookstore to find myself reading about brain research. If you want to know more about how reading works in the brain,  Stanislas Dehaene, a French researcher in the field of cognitive psychology, gives us Reading in the Brain, an amazing read. Among the topics covered in his book are: scanning to read, logic behind spelling, brain lesions, behavior of the brian when we read and the debate over the whole language and phonics approaches to reading, though I won’t tell which one he favors. Published in the USA by Penguin Books this is a recommended reading for all educators, writers, and anyone working with language.
