It is almost Christmas and in a way, this is my book recommendation for this season. As Frederik in Part 4 of “Matchless“, all I wanted for Xmas was to get to see my sisters. In this book, Gregory Maguire does a fabulous job of adapting the classic “The Little Match Girl” by Hans Christian Andersen. Maguire moves the story with ease, here’s a quote from Part 4:

“An unseasonal thaw was wreathing the city in a clammy mist, disguising the landmarks on which Frederik relied. Tonight it seemed as if all the ghosts of all who had died since last year had risen one last time to see in the holy day.”  -Gregory Maguire
